残暑というのは暦の上での秋となる立秋を過ぎてから残る暑さ
をいいます。立秋というのは毎年異なりますが、だいたい8月7
日ごろといわれています。そうなると、お盆というのはすでに
残暑に突入していることになります。ですが、8月の暑さを残
暑と思っている人はいないのではないでしょうか。感覚的には
9月まで暑さが残っているというのが実際のところかもしれま
せん。

Japan/modern Japanese. I think the entry 
should mirror modern language rather than an 
old convention that has little to do with how 
the word is currently used.
