comment from huixing on a forked branch

it seems have to enlighten on this matter. there are some rule on this but right off the top of my head, is Kyodo and NHK rule. both is pablished and every sitizen concern kanji rule easily get its hands on. if you refer to kanji rule you should consult this two.
finaly 舎 is on the list of joyokanjihyo, so don't need to change to hiragana.

「記者ハンドブック(新聞用字用語集)」。これは、主に新聞における記事の書き方や用語、漢字の使い分けといったルールを定めた冊子です。共同通信社が発行しておりますが、社会一般の文章表記にも使用されることを想定し、なんと一般向けにも販売しているのです。

i might go the other way on this one and lean toward not keeping it, but it doesn't do any harm to keep. we don't have a joyo kanji standard of keeping/excluding, although we could perhaps implement one

  Comments:
The main WWW usage of that surface form appears to be in "隼人の校しゃ", and is heavily manga related.
I've also found it in some kids' writing which seems to back up Rene's comment.
We don't really have an agreed threshold for accepting/rejecting odd-ball surface forms. 327 as an n-gram count would be fine if 校舎 wasn't all that common itself, but in fact it's very common so 校しゃ is relatively close to being noise.
I guess on balance, given the manga context of its use, I'd keep it.

That's very possible but I think we have to draw the line somewhere. Any kanji can be substituted with kana in order to make it easier to read for children.
Unless the form is especially common or the kanji is non-jouyou, I don't think it's worth recording.

i haven't looked it up, but perhaps it's possible that 校しゃ is written that way for children?

i'm not convinced we need to record every such variant, so i'm quite fine omitting this but i think historical precedent would probably let it in

Perhaps he's referring to 校しゃ. It's really uncommon and 舎 is a 常用漢字 so I don't think we need it.
