I think "gastropub" should be avoided altogether. It's not a term that applies to most izakayas.
Makes more sense to have an [expl] gloss, in my view. Feel free to improve.

have michelin stars. Rather hard to succinctly define. 
Gastropubs are often fancy affairs while izakayas are most
