Comments: | Without going the encyclopedic route here, are there any other expressions available for 願解き in other dictionaries? (At least in Okinawa, perhaps elsewhere) it is used to mean something along the lines of "canceling a request" to the gods (because it has been fulfilled, in which case it is accompanied by expressions of gratitude, or otherwise become irrelevant, in which case a different request may be submitted) - but i can't find a suitable expression for this. In any case, "release from a vow" seems to me too narrow: that would seem to apply only to people, not to gods... |
