according to the dictionary that comes with os x, "oceanic bonito" should be acceptable (with "bonito" as acceptable shorthand for it... so basically, "bonito" is fine but shouldn't be used as a technical term) |

I gather there is some doubt as to whether this is a bonito at all, which are really part of the Sarda family, e.g. 歯鰹 （はがつお） (n) (uk) striped bonito (Sarda orientalis);
