I still think it comes under "confirmation", but I'm happy to add "review", and also "check" which appears in a couple of JEs.

In my textbook every chapter contains a main text followed by a section titled 内容を確認しよう which contains reading comprehension questions. None of the current words "confirm", "verify", "validate", "affirm" or "identify" really make sense there in English. However, "review" would make sense.

Also there is a "Tatoeba" sentence at http://tatoeba.org/eng/sentences/show/143226 in which 成績を確認したい学生は誰でも学生部長と面会の予約を取ることが出来ます is translated as "Any student who wishes to review his grades may make an appointment with the college dean."

Off the top of my head, I think "confirmation" usually covers it fairly well. Moving that gloss to the beginning, like in the JEs in refs.
Do you have any specific examples in which you think "review" would be more fitting?
