Comments: | Regarding sense 2, it should be noted that this meaning only comes to bear in a compound, i.e., always in an adjectival manner (the adj-no points at that), so i wonder whether it is correct to use "n" in this case. "Outpatient [n]" (= a person) is something along the lines of 外来の患者. |

Comments: | I have no reference at hand, but know frm experience that hospital departments are often referred to in abbreviated form, i.e., without the 科 - this practice is not at all special to Japan. |
