| Comments: | Obviously it's becoming fashionable in places like Twitter to use kanji for this. The arrival of IMEs has encouraged this. A pity vwe can't tag as "formerly uk". |

| Comments: | I don't see any evidence for it being more commonly written with kana. It's perfectly possible it's more common in transcripts, books etc. as "おっす" but that's only one specific arena and probably not the one that's the most relevant for an informal male greeting. The young males using it on Twitter obviously prefer 押忍. |

| Comments: | I've never seen 押忍 in my life but I'm pretty familiar with おっす. Surely it's always written in kana in a book, transcript, etc. GG5, daijr/s and Wiktionary don't even have kanji for it. |
