I think it's only the idiomatic expression 引導を渡す that refers to dismissal, not 引導 itself. None of the refs have a "dismissal" sense.
We were missing a "人々を導いて仏の道に入れる" sense, though.

GG5: 監督の仕事とはいえ, 見込みのない選手に引導を渡すのはつらいものだ. It's part of my job as the manager, I know, but giving a player without prospects his walking papers is not an easy thing.

The dictionaries don't split on this, but it's obviously used idiomatically to mean giving someone the boot. Could be either just an "id" gloss or another sense.
