Although most of the refs treat マカロン and マコロン as synonyms, according to online results, the brightly-coloured sandwich cake is almost always マカロン, while マコロン/まころん refers to a Japanese confection that is similar to an amaretti biscuit. Both of these are different from a "macaroon" (which, rather confusingly, is still often used to refer to macarons).
I suggest moving マコロン to a separate entry with the amaretti-like biscuit as the first sense, and "macaron" as a second sense that points here. |
