I don't think the xref is a lot of use. Japanese people tend to use "pH", and I think it's more often read ペーハー than ピー・エイチ, although the latter is what the JEs like. GG5 points pH/ペーハー to pH/ピー・エイチ.

I did wonder about that, but the kokugos redirect from "pH" to 水素イオン指数, and 水素イオン指数 is the title of the Japanese Wikipedia article on pH.

Does this xref make sense? pH is not an abbrv of 水性イオン指数 and 水性イオン指数 is certainly.the more obscure word of the two. I suggest removing it.
