Comments: | I think it's more accurate to say that パンク is an abbreviation the English "puncture". None of the refs have a パンクチュア entry. The kokugos give the etymology as "punctureから", "punctureの略", etc. Since the link between パンク and "puncture" is quite plain to see, I don't think a note is necessary. |

Comments: | I don't think "going over" is right. GG5 uses a rather free translation for "財政はパンク寸前だ". The subject of "going over" (in the context of a budget) would be a person, company, etc., not the budget itself. Also, 財政 doesn't mean "budget". Sense 1 isn't an abbreviation. |
