Naoko Chino, in her "All About Particles" book, has the "in order to" sense listed.

I cut down the frankly ridiculous number of glosses for the first sense.

I removed the "I tell you/you should do" sense because it's confusing and not really a separate sense. のに is used in all sorts of ways that can only be properly explained in a textbook and grammar dictionary. This is one such example.

I think there's an argument for removing the "in order to" sense because it's just the nominalising の + に (not a particle like the other senses). If we keep it, there should probably be a note to highlight this.

I have untagged that sentence, and tagged three others for the first 3 senses.

i don't think there's much that can be done about that.  i think that's just の (in its nominalizing sense) + に + 気がつく.  perhaps the parsing of the example sentence should be changed to be の+に, but i don't think a sense should be added to this entry

Hi, does the example sentence, 彼は私が居るのに気がついていたが挨拶しなかった, actually illustrate any of the relevant meanings? I'm not sure that it does ...
