I suppose I should add that this is not styrol, but styrene, or better
yet, polystyrene. This material used to be used for capacitors.

First ref is someone trying to interpret a Japanese parts manual. So this is relevant information to some people.
It basically appears that "condenser" is a super-obsolete term for "capacitor", at least most of the time. "styrol" is also dated. Google book results for "polystyrene condenser" land you mostly in the 1940s and 50s. "styrol capacitor" in the 1980s. The two glosses given will put you squarely in the present(given the technology is still mostly outdated).
Every combination of [polystyrene|styrene|styrol] + [capacitor|cap|condensor] will yield some results, but I hesitate to suggest obsolete or highly dated terms without warning. Not quite sure how to do [lsrc] from an English gloss that I think we shouldn't give.
"polystyrene cap" is even more common than the full form. "cap" could be given for any gloss of "capacitor" anywhere though, it's a super-common abbreviation. |
