Added a literal "hitting" sense.
The whipping sense refers to a punishment used in the Edo period.
As far as I'm aware, the "bashing; criticizing" sense is always a suffix.
Approving and reopening. |

This entry is a bit of a mess - see the WWWJDIC display with all the restrictions, etc. I suggest we:
- split out 三和土 into its own entry. It shouldn't really be merged on the basis of sense #4. Kanji Haitani commented in 2007 that it was only occasionally written 叩き - I think that's best as a comment
- remove the "seared skipjack tuna" sense. It was added in 2010 without any reference. 叩き is a food preparation technique that is used on several types of fish as well as beef. It may be occasionally used as shorthand for one type of fish, but it's not in references.
- remove all the restrictions from the remaining senses. |

Thinking about this, I suspect the simplest thing is to put 三和土 back and redo the restrictions. ルミナス和英辞典 is my only ref that supports 叩き for sense 3. |

it's common enough that it needs to have a headword. perhaps a split, with x-refs between them? |
