sankoku:〔文〕主人。主君。しゅ。「ー思い」
smk:「主人・主君」の意の口頭語形。 |

Sorry, I didn't realise it was in the smaller kokugos. I don't think we need to mark it as rare.
Since it only applies to sense 1, I think it should be a separate entry. Oddly, smk's definition seems to contradict sankoku's〔文〕tag. No tag in meikyo. |

Maybe [rk] for しゅう. It's not in any JEs and Daijisen says 「しゅ」の音変化. |

I don't think we need to mark this as adj-t when none of the kokugos do and 主たる is a separate word/entry.
Added sense.
I think we can drop しゅう. |

Fossilization of 主 (shu) + たる (taru, prenominal of the archaic copular たり (tari)).
This person below seems likely to be citing us as an authority (using "adj-pn"). Note: we now have both 最 and 眇 as [adj-t].
http://blastitwonner.blogspot.com/2009/02/list-of-taru-adjectives.html
E. ONE KANJI PRE-NOUN ADJECTIVALS (technically not -taru 形容動詞 adjectives, but I'm putting them here for reference b/c they are 連体詞 adjectives that end in -taru)
眇たる 【びょうたる】 (adj-pn) small; minute; tiny; little; insignificant
最たる 【さいたる】 (adj-pn) prime; conspicuous
主たる 【しゅたる】 (adj-pn) main; principal; major |

I can't find any evidence that the しゅ reading is [adj-no] for [3]. Heavy の usage in the ngrams seems to derive from [2]. It also feels like [adj-t] is self-evident unless I'm missing something. The kokugos give 主たる as it's own entry (probably a reflection of how common it is), but if we're going to have an entry for 主 alone, [adj-t] seems correct.
Sankoku's defn of 主たる is おもな. (i.e. not しゅの). One of our [adj-no] tests is "do the kokugos use の as an example?" While not definitive, sankoku doesn't (it uses 主となる, and xref's 主たるand 主として). daijs has no の examples(uses —とした and —になって). In eijiro's extensive examples for 主の, 主 is always a suffix for something else (usually as ぬし, like 買い主の or 株主の), or else "the Lord's" (sense[2]). Extensive ngrams seem just as likely to be this kind of usage. |
