Comments: | I don't think it's needed. Is it really helpful to know that the the word comes from しろひと/白人? Only koj has しらひと. I think it can be dropped. |

Refs: | daijs 素人 《「しろひと(白人)」の音変化》 I can find some "recent" examples of 白人/しろうと (ruby) on google books and ndl, e.g. 1901, 1904 nikk 白人 素人 entry: ② (「白人(しろうと)」の音読み) (イ) 物事に熟達していない人。また、それを職業・専門にしていない人。 nikk's 玄人 entry has a 1711 example where 素人 is spelled 白人 wiktionary has the kanji as "稀" 和漢雅俗いろは辭典 (1901) lists it |
|
Comments: | 白人 is mostly historical but I think it should stay, it helps explain the oigin and reading. |

Refs: | As far as the readings go, I only see an overlap between 素人 and 白人 in the kokugos (koj & nikk only) for しらひと. However, the definitions for しらひと【白人】 and しらひと【素人】 are not the same in those dictionaries. The former ("white skinned person; person with vitiligo; albino") is not in this entry. |
|
Comments: | Doesn't look like 白人 belongs here. |
