Refs: | daijs (sense 2): 予想に反した事を述べるときに用いる。かえって。反対に。「近ごろは角帽をかぶった学生のほうが—異様だ」 |
|
Comments: | Those glosses are sense 1. Daijs's sense 2 doesn't appear to be in the other refs. |

Comments: | I don't think the note is needed. The source is meikyo, which has a "古くは「一層」とも書いた" note. Daijs and koj simply say that the word probably comes from 一層/いっそう. |
