A masu (枡 ("square") or 升 ("measure")[1]) was originally a square wooden box used to measure rice in Japan during the feudal period.
Do we need a dedicated sense for the wooden box pictured here:枡

Or just do an image search for:
(copious and unambiguous results)

Clearly the box itself is something recognizable in its own right.

I came here from 升売り, which referenced the existence of a "wooden masu box". But I don't see that specifically in any of the current senses.  Something like:

Or something...  Maybe this should replace [1].  Perhaps the current "measuring container" itself is too general...
