OK, I'll bite the bullet and propose we go for two senses with notes about the readings. I'll approve and reopen it to flag it for a while. I'll adjust the Tajima one.

I think we'd be expanding the scope of [food] if we added it to those terms. If I'm not mistaken, it's currently restricted to cooking terminology and names of dishes. We don't tag words like ご飯, 砂糖 or 小麦粉 as [food], even though they're not used in any other contexts.

I don't think there's anything wrong tagging "beef" or various -肉 entries as [food]. Meats could be considered "raw ingredients", sure, but they are particularly cut and prepared from animal flesh to be used as food. Nobody uses words like 鶏肉 or 鶏肉 to talk about the flesh of chicken outside their use as food.
