Comments: | eijiro, reverso, wikipedia xref. "indentured servitude" is also the term I'm familiar with from textbooks. Apparently the system morphed from something debt-based some something more employment-looking over time (so the "indentured servitude" vs. "apprenticeship" distinction may be a question of when the term was used). |
