There is a good reason for having a form like サッサと available to text-glossing systems. It is very useful, if not vital, to be able to handle katakana forms a bit separately. I'm comfortable with サッサと ending up as a search-only/hidden form, because glossing software can still use it, but it's important that it be available. |

Yes, esp. when it comes to hiragana vs katakana I think "90k in the ngrams" by itself is a meaningless statistic. Jisho, yomichan, wwwjdic can all find this entry fine without "サッサと" being explicitly included. |

I don't think it matters so much when it's simply hiragana vs. katakana. Most clients handle the conversion themselves.
I have no objection to keeping it for now but I agree with Marcus that it should be a hidden form. アリガトウ gets a massive 230475 n-grams but we (rightly) don't include it as a reading.
Once hidden forms are implemented, I see no reason not to use percentage-based thresholds (allowing for exceptions here and there). |

I quite agree. I proposed some inclusion criteria in an issue which is still open, which catered for that count level. |

Marcus, I think this is one of those cases where the percentage shouldn't be used as a guide for removing surface forms. The percentage is relatively low (but not quite rK-level) because the counts for the hiragana form are so high. But 98 *thousand* n-grams are nothing to scoff at. For these [on-mim] terms, katakana variants are just as expected. I'm counting 24 hits for the past hour alone on Twitter. |

So did we until 2013. See the edit history below. The "adv-to" PoS indicates that it's used with と.
But I think と should be included in the headword. It's virtually always さっさと. All the refs have さっさと. Only daijs and nikk have a seperate さっさ entry (and their example sentences still use さっさと). |
