I don't think the meanings for sense 1 were missing - they were described in an abbreviated way as in the 中辞典.

The meaning that I'm most familiar with and that I found listed first in most dictionaries that I checked ([1]) was absent. Additionally, I was unable to find any J-J sources for the definition of 'sharp ear; long ears' or any examples of that usage.
