See notes on お別れ会. This appears the have both senses, but by comparison the non-death-related "parting ceremony" seems quite, quite uncommon.
I have only added the xref. Can't do much until/unless it is approved in some form. Will need to be aligned with however the xref is settled.
I think this needs to be split into two senses, both of which reference the respective sense on お別れ会. "farewell party" might even be [rare], hard to say definitively, but it sure doesn't pop up in searches without hunting for it. (It may be that の is inherently more formal, so leans toward the solemn use?) |
