Comments: | See comments on 癪に障る, which appears to be largely synonymous, and has similar ngram counts. Moved the English [exp] to the front (and reference suggests "get one one's nerves" is somewhat linked to the literal underlying etymology). I'd suggest "to be irritating" over "to irritate one", which is somewhat awkward. "to be irritating to whoever is the possessor of 癇, which is 'oneself' by default". の癇に障る 1244 彼女の癇に障る 34 相手の癇に障る 31 母は落ち着いた声で言い返し、それが父の癇に障るのか、毎喧嘩ごとに家の何かが壊れます。 Not many reverso examples. One glosses as "abrasive" (e.g. personality), 癇に障る性格, which is interesting but not especially common. |
