GG5: ふう : huff and puff; gasp (for breath). Example: "ふう. なんて暑いんだろう. Phew! What a baking hot sun!" |
|
Comments: |
As Robin noted, several of the ふう examples are ふうふう, but one isn't. However, that is an example of "phew"; not of the sense GG5 is giving.
I had thought it best to keep the huff and puff sense, but I've gone cool on it. Maybe keep the xref. |

(I removed one sense because there's no evidence ふう is used in that way based on what Robin said about the GG5 entry) |

We already have an entry for ふうふう, etc. I think we can just leave this as-is and xref to the other. |

Adding reading from rejected 2843980.
Daijs and nikk only have this as an interjection so I've created a new int sense.
The adverbial glosses come from gg5 but the word always appears as ふうふう in the example sentences. Might be better to have a separate ふうふう entry and keep this as a single-sense int entry. |

Not really happy with the gloss.
I think ふうと suggests breathing out,
while the gloss suggests breathing in. |
