OK. It's a fine point but I can see if we're treating it as a kango. The reading may have come from Sanscrit into Chinese, but it's one step removed from Japanese.
I guess on those grounds quite a few of our entries that are tagged as "san:" should lose it. |

No, it's about the ばか reading. See Rene's comment. The point is that there's a difference between words like カーマ〖梵 Kāma〗and 音写/音訳 words like 【僧伽】〔梵 saṃgha の音訳〕. According to Rene (and I agree), words belonging to the latter category should not have a Sanskrit lsrc. |

We have 50+ entries like this with the "san:" tag, e.g.
旦那;檀那 [だんな] /(n) (1) master (of a house, shop, etc.) (san: dāna)/
阿梨樹 [ありじゅ] /(n) (1) Thai basil (Ocimum basilicum) (san: arjaka)/
etc.
I think the issue with the 馬鹿 entry was to do with the Sanscrit "moha" which is not really related to the ばか (ateji) reading. |

That was only Daijirin's comment. Koj has "(梵語arbudaの転)", Daijisen has "梵arbudaの音写" and Meikyo has "梵語 arbuda（＝水疱）から。" |

The か in からか indicates that the etymology isn't certain. We don't usually mention it in such cases.
This needs to be split because とうこん isn't uk. I'll set it up. |

Brian: our style is to have the [nokanji] readings(s) last. Please don't change the order.

As with 爪痕 つめあと そうこん, this is probably a colloquial/formal split. Not advocating to split the entry, I'm sure "less-common on-yomi form = formal" is a rule an average Japanese learner could internalize....
Both kana あばた forms would seem to be more prevalent than そうこん。
Wiktionary pointed out [gikun], and in hindsight that seems pretty apparent.
