I've come around to agreeing that this one is a bit off the mark. It broadly means "to take too much" or "to take to excess", and is a bit obvious. None of the Tanaka sentences containing 取りすぎ actually relate to these glosses. |

Our 取る entry has 17 senses. The number of senses that can be used with すぎる is definitely more than two. |

But it is a 複合動詞 and we aren't so strict on A+B aspects with them. I think the meaning is a bit idiomatic as it doesn't cover the whole range of possible meanings of 取り/取る. I've experimented with attempting to generate translations for 複合動詞, and this one is hopeless.
