Comments: | Quite interesting, the dictionary definition that would cover this sense is "apple-cheeked", and not "apple cheeks". The latter appears to refer to the firm, rounded quality of the cheeks more than the color. (Perhaps this was not always the case, but it seems to be today.) This is a case where I don't see why a J->E gloss would need the extra idiomatic gloss when the literal translation is quite adequate anyway. since "apple cheeks" seems to have at least one, common, completely different meaning, the simplest thing seems to be to drop it. Once I submit this, I'll vote to delete. Red cheeks = 赤い頬? This seems obvious enough |
