single-edged sword is sharp on only one side.  Knives are generally sharp on only one side, with 片刃 and 両刃 referring to the grinding of the blade (one side or both sides).

"double edged" and "single edged" are also apparently used this way in English, though "beveled" seems standard, unambiguous terminology.
