Well, 肝練り is rare, and the historical original is even rarer. Since it involves a gun, as does Russian roulette, I don't feel much more detail is appropriate.

Nicolas' original gloss could maybe be trimmed, but I think it's a shame to reduce it to "Russian roulette game" instead of describing exactly what it is. Sometimes brevity is the enemy of accuracy.
