I thought they didn't match the search key. For images Google segments the key and shows images containing the parts. |

An emergency human transport/stretcher-like image that comes up on google 搬送帯

The page actually includes a definition for 搬送, (maybe to add google keywords, search ranking(spam)?), it merely gives 搬送帯 (and 搬送波) as example terms that include 搬送。
搬送を使った言葉として搬送帯や搬送波があります。

Thank you for the reviews, as always. For what it's worth, I also saw the sporadic images of "people-carrying" apparatuses. I think these are spurious. If one has the time to follow the links (which I certainly don't expect of others here), you'll find the term is either not present (google creative license in image searching, I guess) or is included in some roundabout way(like including a full definition of 搬送!). |

I guess that works. Google images are mostly industrial conveyors but there are a few of harnesses for carrying people. |

On further reflection, I was going to post this as an alternative to deletion, but you replied so quickly (thank you).
Would you be amenable to replacing "conveyor belt" with something more generic. I would note that this is completely consistent with the original reference, and is consistent with the maff usage (a rolling bar conveyor), and "conveyor belt" would be an easy over-specification to make for a J-E dictionary like GG5. If all of your J-J references point to コンベアー, maybe this is the safer translation? |

We'd usually handle an uncommon term which is in several references this way. |

Studying 搬.
I was originally going to offer a "see:ベルトコンベア" as a cross reference, given that ベルトコンベア is super common, and this entry is super-rare. But looking into it further, I don't see much evidence that "搬送帯", if it is even common enough to be considered a word, would translate to "conveyor belt" in the first place. Like 干鰯, convey + belt = "conveyor belt" seems like a no-brainer, but if you look at the reference that justified this entry in the first place, the only definition given is a forward reference to "コンベヤー", and the definition of that doesn't inherently use a belt at all. Yes, ベルトコンベヤー is one option example in the definition of コンベヤー, but so is チェーンコンベヤ, and why then does the definition of 搬送帯 not link to that entry?
For n-grams, I'll note that there appears to be an (somewhat uncommon) collocation 搬送帯域 used in electronics, which decomposes as 搬送 + 帯域. Google translate gives "carrier band" for this. I even have a reference without 域 (first reference) that appears to be 搬送帯="carrier band" based on surrounding context (and google translate).
In a google search for "搬送帯", the first results are dictionary entries, and a few overly-dense patent-application-looking entries (including one that is absolutely littered with 搬送帯) and technical documents (such as the reference from maff).
Google image search seems to find mainly one device from one specific company that is anything close to a "conveyor belt". (EC-23C)
While I don't think I can deny that at least a couple of Japanese people have used 搬送帯 as a formulation of "a device for transporting objects by means of a belt", it looks like "conveyor belt" was imported into Japanese as gairaigo, and has never been anything else. The likelihood that someone will encounter "搬送帯" in the wild and need this dictionary to interpret it seems very low. On balance I think this entry just does more harm than good by suggesting that this could even be considered as a "native" translation of "conveyor belt", and I also don't think it's common (or well-defined) enough to try and flesh out a better definition, so I'm suggesting it be dropped. |
