The 「尻を捲る」 headword appears in many refs (daijr/s, meikyo, shinmeikai, obunsha). Do we really want to hide it?
I was unsure about the しり reading for 穴, but I see daijr/s has it listed as a (俗) reading in their entries for けつ【穴/尻】. This reading isn't in jmdict, though. |

Fair point. I've added "uk" because the kana forms dominate, and moved ケツをまくる to the front. I've moved ケツを捲る further up. I think that about how it can best be done. The ordering of the kanji forms and readings is now a little inconsistent, but so be it. |

It doesn't bother me too much how the Readings section ends up, but the statistic
ケツをまくる: 685
is higher than all the other spellings added up! |

The 3 JEs I use all have 尻をまくる under the 尻/しり entry. We have no real way of measuring what the intended reading is when people write "尻をまく...". It's entirely possible that if they have けつ/ケツ in mind, they'll write it in kana, but if they are thinking about しり they'll write 尻. I see that 新和英中辞典 has けつをまくる under the 尻/けつ, which supports this position. |

ケツをまくる: 685

These figures seem to suggest that the "ketsu" reading is relatively common,
and that it's often written with katakana.
Should we change the Readings section accordingly? |

I think the first definition (high horse) is a bit off the mark, at least at the head of the entry.
From my reading of the Japanese definitions, it's about going from being calm/mild to being
aggressive/belligerent/defiant/antagonistic etc.,
rather than going from humility to smug superiority.
.
e.g. それまでの穏やかな態度を変えて、急に強い態度に出たりけんか腰になったりする。居直る。
* けんか腰 means "belligerent; defiant"
* 居直る means "suddenly take a threatening attitude"
[Both defs from Genius WaEi]
.
Here's another definition that emphases belligerence and defiance:
居直る。開き直って反抗的な態度を取る」という意味のようです。
.
It seems that 尻をまくる's original meaning was mooning (displaying the buttocks):
手元の辞書によると、「ならず者などが着物の裾を捲って座り込むところから、窮地に立った者が本性を現わして、威嚇的な態度に出ること。居直る」だそうです
and it still has that meaning evidently:
.

Reversing the kanji forms. I agree that the "canonical" reading should go first. GG5 has it (尻をまくる) under its 尻/しり entry. |

A couple of sources I found say しり rather than けつ, so I guess しり should come first.
e.g.
1) MS Office dictionary:
しりをまくる【尻を捲る】
take [《フォーマル》 assume] a defiant attitude; 《口語》 stick one's chin out..
2) 尻(しり)を捲(まく)・る
急に態度を変え、けんか腰になる。居直る。けつを捲る。
(*)「客にどなられた店員が―・って食ってかかる」
http://kotobank.jp/word/尻を捲る
.
I suppose "to get one's back up" is close to the meaning too.
Or "to turn aggressive".
Both of those seem to work in the example above (*)
I don't think much of Google Translate's suggestion much, though: "roll up the ass" :-) |

尻をまくる seems likely to be more common than 尻を捲る.
n-grams supports that notion.
尻を捲る: 48
尻をまくる: 174
しりをまくる: 38
けつをまくる: 136
Maybe けつをまくる should come before しりをまくる? |
