In commercials showing food products, there's always a bit at the bottom: *(写真は）イメージです"
i.e. "actual product may differ from image shown" (or "actual circumstances of the animals producing this milk may differ
from image shown" in the example shown above)
I think this should be an additional sense because mashing this into sense 1 would make things confusing. |

I think there's a lot of overlap between daijr' sense 1
and 2, to the extent I can't come up with anything that
distinguishes the usage in these examples:
example sense 1: 「インドは暑い国という－がある」
example sense 2: 「 －していたものと実際は全く違った」

There's a sentence including "視覚的イメージ" in EDR日英対
訳辞書 where it's translated as "visual image." Not
immediately helpful.

I think you could make an argument for having a separate
"reputation" sense: daijs 「企業イメージを高める」, prog:
"これは我が党のイメージアップになる" but I think that's also
sort of contained in the current sense 1. |
