Add spelling 妻楊枝 – saw on chopsticks today.
Marked as [iK] b/c:
* it’s not in any dictionary I checked, and
* seems an obvious corruption/misspelling
(つま being an unfamiliar reading for 爪, which is usually つめ, and 妻 is the only familiar character with reading つま; etymology is obviously 爪 = nail, pick, not 妻 = wife)
* also, 妻楊枝 is *much* less frequent
FWIW, the (Japanese) shop-owner averred that he’d never noticed, and thought 妻楊枝 was the usual spelling, so this seems an easily missed point. |
