| Comments: | I'm not sure if the use of this for "hushed up/swept under the rug/smoothed over" should just go under meaning 1 or not. It's clearly coming from that definition, but it isn't an obvious enough jump for me to have figured out that it's used that way when I saw it in a novel. |
