A mistake in the example - I have changed it. The amended version will appear next week. |

Hi, the example sentence at 伝う is 涙が彼女のほうをつたって流れた, which appears to spell this as ほう. At least, I assume it's the same word. Not sure if this is a valid spelling or a mistake in the example. |

You can't simply swap code-points around like that. The kanji with the JIS X 0208 kuten codepoint of 43-43 (Unicode 982c) is *still* the 常用漢字. 頬 (kuten 72-4 in JIS X 0212 and 1-93-90 in JIS X 0213) didn't suddenly become the 常用漢字. In fact it became an official 人名用漢字 last year. Codepoints and glyphs are only loosely coupled. The Ministry may sanction a change of appearance, but all the characters in electronic media don't change.
I'll accept dropping the "oK", but the rest has to stay the way it was. |

see the website of the Agency for cultural Affairs (文化庁) :
http://www.bunka.go.jp/kokugo_nihongo/pdf/jouyoukanjihyou_h22.pdf
1. 頰 is not obsolete. Rather (see p. 143), it is the official (jōyō) form since the 2010 jōyō-kanji reform.
2. 頬 is not official but its use is actually allowed for characters displayed in information systems. See p. 3, bottom :
情報機器に搭載されている印刷文字字体の関係で,本表の通用字体とは異なる字体(通用字体の「頰・賭・剝」に対する「頬・賭・剥」など)を使用することは差し支えない。 |
