I think 大喜利 should be split out because it's by far the most common way of writing out sense 2 (I've never actually seen it as 大切り) |

i think sense 2 should be made more general (i.e., it may have been better before the anonymous poster's suggested edits). see daijisen:
1. 芝居で、その日の最終の幕。= last act of a play
2. 江戸時代の歌舞伎で、二番目狂言(世話物)の最終幕。幕末以後の歌舞伎では、二番目狂言のあとにつける一幕物。= last act of the second play in a programme (or one-act play following the second play in a programme)
3. 寄席で、とりの終わったあとにする演芸。大ぜいで珍芸・謎(なぞ)掛け・言葉遊びなどをするものが多い。追い出し。= comic interlude as the last item in vaudeville, music hall, etc.
=====
kojien, daijirin mention only the kabuki sense, and gg5 keeps it general as "last piece of the day's program" |

"close"/"conclusion" are an archaic sense 3. if added here, it makes the merge with 大喜利 somewhat icky |

daijisen has 大切 as well (so does my IME. daijirin doesn't have it). almost certainly should be considered [io] due to inevitable confusion with たいせつ |
|
Comments: |
i think the senses should be swapped to match all dics. also, not limited to meat |

Couldn't really fit the full explanation. Mookee said: "大喜利 originally means the last act of the show. However it is widely used for a type of comical show. In it there are a MC and some responders. The MC gives a theme and responders return short comical answers. The answers are swown as improvisation, but sometimes the themes are informed to responders beforehand." |

忘年会の余興で大喜利をやることになった。
See mookeee's comment. I'm not sure what a good English word for this is.
