but the definition for this is something that's neither a regular school nor a vocational school: 学校教育法第一条に定める学校(小学校・中学校・高等学校など)および専修学校以外のもので (daijr)
a driving school is a 各種学校, some cramming schools are too, but you wouldn't refer to either as a vocational school. "miscellaneous school" is maybe a little impenetrable but "vocational school" is wrong, esp. as the first gloss |

Despite the "official" legal translation, "miscellaneous school" doesn't really mean much in English and shouldn't be the only or even leading gloss. I like GG5's "vocational school". |
