Reflecting on this, I have come to the view that it would be best split into two entries, as in GG5. In the wild 離れ is mostly in XX離れ terms, as is the case with the two example sentences. It also cleans up a 2/3 violation.

these merged readings do not pass the 2/3 rule and can't be together this way. either the entry must be split (as in gg5), or it should be handled as an entry for 離れ[はなれ] with a note indicating where the ばなれ reading is used. (as in all kokugos).
