"In the world of material converting, “slitting” refers to the process of slicing a large roll of paper or other material into narrower strips. "
  Comments:
Isn't it always a roll?
If we're leaving it as "slitting", I think we should include a brief definition.

Roll slitting is one type of slitting that's done on rolls of paper etc. but slitting can be done in other forms too i.e. on sheets of paper. I don't think スリット only refers to roll slitting specifically.
