Comments: | I was really confused by this phrase: 「三人が拠った東京新詩社」 at: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/恋衣 Firstly because it’s 〜が (instead of the more familiar 〜によ る), and secondly since the sense is really physically based *at* a place or organization, rather than the more abstract senses of “based *on*” etc. that I’m familiar with. (The 〜が is simply because it’s using it in a noun phrase to modify the company, but this begs the meaning.) I think “based *at*” sufficiently shows the distinct meaning, but also clearly connects it with the other senses. Examples at Weblio are often militarily based at a castle, which supports this. The definitions at GG5/daijr/koj are pretty tricky to tease out though; could use more work. |
