Needed? - possibly not. Useful? - probably.
My concern is more that the entry is a bit cluttered. We separate の from 乃/之 to simplify things, but it's harder in this case. I guess if we've lived with the entry like this since 2014, it can stay. |

the way the note is phrased makes it sound as if you wouldn't
normally use "に" when counting aloud but instead ふ or ふう,
which isn't true. |

I'd say having them would be helpful, and I agree that separate entries would be the way to go. While the meaning is the same, I think having the lsrc is important enough to split. |

i'm comfortable with keeping it and all other chinese readings for numbers. i'm not sure it should be merged in here though. perhaps a separate entry for:
二;2
アル
[1][num][lsrc=chi:"er"]
two
=
although that violates 2/3 it is much tidier |

Come to think of it, it's not that much more weird than having
entries for ワン、ツー、スリー、フォアー, etc. |

That's fine by me. I don't really understand on what basis
some of the Chinese readings are included in all of these
dictionaries. Does it mean these words are used in Japanese
or not? If not, why do all these kokugo's really list them?
There's not that many of them though - daijs has only 258
entries with 中国語 in the 解説文.
Should アル etc. have separate entries or not be included at
all? |

広辞苑 confirms this: "中国語の二(に)". 大辞林 too: "〔中国語〕ふたつ。に。" |
|
Comments: |
I think these are tell us 二 is read "アル" in Chinese. Do we really want the 二/アル combination going out on that basis? Will we be adding the Korean readings of hanja?
I feel that Chinese-derived readings which have no currency in Japanese, e.g. don't appear at all in 漢和字典, should not be included. |
