I made it plural because I did the same for 北山 東山 西山 but I guess singular works as well (though all of them should be aligned) |

Mount Kōya (esp. Kongōbu-ji) is the only meaning given in shinmeikai
given that this corresponds to a bunch of different places names not shown in this entry (cf. wiki above, whose primary entry for 南山 is Nam Mountain in Seoul), it seems unlikely that the senses given in this entry are the ones that earned the news tag. probably it was earned by various meanings that belong in enamdict |
