Comments: | This term overwhelmingly refers to the movement of lower ranked Samurai active in the anti-Shogunate 尊王攘夷 movement, and even when it is used otherwise it is usually in reference to them, despite its classical Chinese roots. It is deeply misleading to present it as a generic term for "patriot". |
