It doesn't really match with a sense of 持つ; it would really need one of its own. But then 持ってる is really an abbreviation of 持っている - all the occurrences of it in Tanaka sentences are from that. |

A very common form of 持っている, and often doesn't have that meaning. I don't think that Daijisen entry is much use. |
