Let's drop that note; it's behaving like any other 形容動詞.
Definitely not a noun. Re Robin's "Despite what the kokugos say, I don't think any of these senses are nouns", I quite agree. Many 形容動詞 get [名] tags in the kokugos despite them demonstrably only being used as adjectives in modern Japanese. I think this is due to them conforming to "classical" grammatical concepts. We tend to tag them as "adj-na,n", I would be quite happy to cull the "n" where appropriate. I'll raise an issue on this.

We're not very consistent when it comes to notes like this. But on 20 entries we have a note that says "oft. adverbially as ..." (or something similar). I prefer this to just "as ..." However, I'm not sure the note is even needed.
Looking at the kokugo definitions and JE examples, I think these are the only glosses needed on sense 3.
Despite what the kokugos say, I don't think any of these senses are nouns. Meikyo just has 形動/副.

I don't agree. Do any other editors have a view?
A parallel is the 事前 entry, where we have "(often as 事前に)".

I think that's precisely why it's needed, a learner could misconstrue 余計に to be adjectival

Given that the POS is "adj-na" I think that is not needed.
