  Comments:
I guess so, but it leaves the reason for the name up in the air a bit.

  Comments:
If it's not actually used, I think keeping the
word in an lsrc is enough.
(I also think we should carefully avoid adding
what are essentially usage notes on the
English word inside the glosses)

wiki: "The modern Sudoku was most likely designed anonymously by Howard Garns, a 74-year-old retired architect and freelance puzzle constructor from Connersville, Indiana, and first published in 1979 by Dell Magazines as Number Place (the earliest known examples of modern Sudoku)."
  Comments:
Although no longer used, "number place" is the original English name.

Merging 2835586 proposal. Robin commented "not wasei".
But "number place" isn't used for sudoku in English, AFAIK. It looks like a real wasei to me.
