With that note I'd leave it where it is. It's the first sense in the JEs (and GG5 only has 込む) and in the Tanaka sentences 40 are using 混む and 8 are using 込む but they ALL mean crowded. |

If move it down to sense 3, it still comes
before the suffixes. I think it's really weird
to lead with a meaning that's not at all
common for 込む now that 混む has been split
out. |

It think it would look odd leading with anything other than the "crowded" sense. Given that 混む only applies to sense 1, we could split out 混む into a separate entry.
I've dropped 篭む (which isn't in the refs) and 籠む (which is a separate word according to koj). If 混む is split out, we can also drop the restr tags. |

Dunno. 込む is much more common. GG5 and Daijirin don't even have 混む as a headword (Daijr has 「混む」とも書く). OTOH all the Tanaka sentences are for sense 1 and most use 混む. |
