Refs: | For ひとりみ, my 3 online JEs (GG5, 中辞典, ルミナス) all only have 独り身 and xref to their どくしん (独身) entries. These are: GG5: celibacy; 〔男性の〕 bachelorhood; 〔女性の〕 spinsterhood. 中辞典: ~の single; unmarried ルミナス - (adj) single; (未婚の) unmarried. (n) (男の独身者) bachelor [C]; (女の) unmarried woman [C], spinster Most of the kokugos I use only have 独り身 and have two senses - #1 the same as the JEs and #2 living alone/separated. 新明解 has only 一人身 and only has it meaning #2. As happens so often, the term can mean a state or a person in that state. I'll leave it as the one sense but it could be split. |

Comments: | There are TWO meanings in the kokugos. Can someone check the JEs? (I'm a native speaker of Mandarin, not English, so I don't use JEs.) |
